Instead I took about 70 yards of tulle and made a giant petticoat from it. Not sure if that is true but I decided to abandon the large hoop skirt idea. The first idea I had was to get a larger hoop skirt, however the nice people of ebay told me the steal would bend and curl if it was any larger. The first step was to make the dress larger than the hoop skirt.
I wanted mine to have dimension and accuracy. I was going to lay down a simple blue skirt over a hoop skirt with a pillow top for the frosting, however then I saw how flat this looked from the few other’s that had done the costume. King Kandy – King of Candyland, married to Queen Frostine with two kids, Princess Lolly and Lord Licorice, resident of Candy Castle.This cosplay was a special new challenge for me. Gloppy the Molasses Monster– Monster made of molasses who resides at the Molasses Swamp. Queen Frostine – Wife of King Kandy, resident of Candy Castle but spends most of her time near the ice cream sea with her friends the whales. Princess Lolly – Daughter of Queen Frostine and King Kandy, happy and naïve fairy like girl with pink hair and a lollipop wand. Lord Licorice – “Evil” son of King Kandy, resident of Licorice Castle. Gramma Nutt – Old Lady who lives in a peanut brittle house with her peanut brittle garden in the corner of Candyland. Jolly – Chubby creature who lives in the Gumdrop Mountains. Plumpy – A fuzzy green monster who lives under the Gingerbread Plum Tree. Molly – Linda’s little sister, permanently paralyzed from the waist down and in a wheelchair. Linda – Molly’s older sister who has magical powers. Martha – Ostentatious, greedy, selfish, self-centered girl. Enjoy a ccompanying Martha on her journey as she visits all of the locations and meets all of the classic characters!) It is a twist on everyone's favorite childhood board game, Candyland. (This story is written in the format of a play.
